Hello, my name is Janette Campbell and I'm a software engineer.
About
Nothing much to see here. Just me awkwardly trying to describe myself.
I'm an ex-apparel technical designer and merchandiser who likes to code.
My introduction to programming was an intro course I took in high school. Unfortunately, they only offered an introductory course. I ended up following in my mother's footsteps and entered the apparel industry.
I found myself using the software to do my job more efficiently. For instance, I used AS400 macros and formulas to make reports more automated.
My reintroduction to coding was through website development in my free time. I enjoyed the process of making websites more functional.
After being laid off from my apparel job, I went back to school to study computer software engineering. I was focused on the core courses but spent some time teaching myself to code. I found myself thinking about my code during my downtime; this led me to code more often on the weekends.
In addition to coding, I like to learn new things and my hobbies reflect that. I've studied photography, woodworking, sewing, and cooking.
